Job summary
Whatnot is building the future of live commerce. We seek an Infrastructure Engineer to own the path between our users and code, covering edge, DNS, private connectivity, service mesh, TLS, and internal access.
You will instrument observability and partner with Reliability, Platform, and Security teams to ensure fast, secure traffic. This hands-on role emphasizes software with network ownership, writing controllers and automation, and making the layer self-sufficient for engineers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- 3+ years with Istio and Envoy, including extensions.
Responsibilities
- Own the network path from edge to internal services.
- Instrument every layer of a request with observability signals.
- Collaborate with Reliability, Platform, and Security teams.
- Write controllers, extensions, and automation to own the layer.
- Design for failure and rehearse failover.
