Job summary

SMX seeks an Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) to support its industrial security program for multiple clients. This remote role supports a Hollywood, MD team with occasional travel.

You will manage FCLs, conduct training, process clearances, and maintain security files while collaborating with DCSA and client security teams. The position requires a TS clearance, a Bachelor's degree with 2 years of AFSO experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years' experience as an AFSO or similar role.
• CDSE Possessing Curriculum (completed or within 6 months of employment).
• Fluent with DISS, NISS, NBIS, SWFT, SIMS, and c-CURE programs/systems.
• Active Top Secret security clearance.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to exercise mature judgment and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to work well alone and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Serve as AFSO for multiple Facility Clearances (FCLs) in compliance with NISPOM.
• Interact with DCSA and client security to maintain relationships.
• Develop, maintain, and implement SOPs for compliance.
• Process personnel security clearances using DISS/NBIS with SIMS records.
• Develop, conduct, and track in-house trainings (initial, refresher, travel).
• Develop and maintain the SMX Insider Threat Program.
• Participate in security self-inspections and action follow-ups.
• Engage in DCSA and client inspections/assessments.
• Process SCI requests using ACCS and coordinate indoctrination.
• Process Visit Authorizations using DISS and ACCS.
• Prepare DD254s and maintain program security files.
• Submit CAC applications and manage issuances/renewals.
• Assist with security incident investigations and reporting to DCSA.
• Prepare system access forms (DD2875s).
• Fulfill ServiceNow tickets for security needs.
• Assist with reports to government agencies as required by 32 CFR Part 117.
• Stay current with industrial security; participate in ISACs/NCMS.
• Maintain FCL records in NISS.
• Support recruiting with clearance verifications.
• Prepare weekly/monthly reports to SMX Security and clients.
• Build badge profiles in c-CURE and manage facility access.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
