Job summary

SMX seeks an Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) to support an industrial security program across multiple clients. The role involves maintaining compliance, processing clearances, and coordinating with the DCSA and client security teams.

It is remote with periodic travel to support a Hollywood, MD based team. Qualified candidates will hold a TS clearance, a relevant degree with experience as an AFSO, and proficiency with DISS/NBIS/SIMS/C-CURE, plus strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years' experience as an AFSO or similar role.
• CDSE Possessing Curriculum completed or able to complete within six months.
• Fluent with DISS, NISS, NBIS, SWFT, SIMS, and C-CURE systems.
• Active Top Secret security clearance.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong written communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Ability to exercise mature judgment and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as AFSO for multiple Facility Clearances (FCLs) in NISPOM compliance.
• Interact with DCSA and client security personnel.
• Develop, maintain, and implement SOPs and policies for compliance.
• Process personnel security clearances using DISS/NBIS; manage SIMS records.
• Conduct in-house security training and briefings; cover various topics.
• Develop and maintain SMX Insider Threat Program.
• Perform annual security self-inspections and track actions.
• Participate in DCSA and client inspections/assessments.
• Process SCI requests using ACCS and coordinate indoctrination.
• Process Visit Authorizations using DISS and ACCS as needed.
• Prepare DD254s and maintain program security files.
• Submit CAC applications and manage CAC issuances/renewals.
• Assist with security incidents and reports to DCSA via DISS.
• Prepare system access forms (DD2875s).
• Fulfill ServiceNow tickets for employee security needs.
• Prepare reports to Government agencies per 32 CFR Part 117.
• Stay current with Industrial Security; engage with ISACs/NCMS.
• Maintain FCL records in NISS; support recruitment with clearance verifications.
• Submit weekly/monthly reports to SMX Security and clients.
• Build badge profiles in c-CURE and manage facility access.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
