Job summary

Cherry Creek Careers is hiring a Severe Needs Para Educator to assist students with severe special education needs under licensed staff supervision. You will support individuals and small groups with curriculum, skill development, behavior strategies, and assignments, while preparing materials and tracking progress.

Qualifications

• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required
• High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma
• No professional work experience required
• Title I assignments require 2 years of college or an associate’s degree or equal knowledge
• MCP Crisis Prevention Intervention training provided by the District
• Medication administration training provided by the District as needed
• Basic knowledge of office equipment
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Intermediate verbal and written communication skills
• Intermediate interpersonal relations skills
• Intermediate organizational skills
• Ability to work alone and with others
• Ability to appropriately modify curriculum
• Ability to implement behavior modification techniques
• Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations
• Maintain confidentiality
• Ability to work one-on-one and in small groups with students
• If DHH Program, understand hearing loss impact
• If Homebound, set boundaries and work with families in home settings

Responsibilities

• Assist students with classroom activities, adapt curriculum for individual needs.
• Deliver curriculum to individuals and small groups; track progress and generalize skills.
• Prepare materials, administer tests, assist attendance and documentation.
• Support with fire drills and other events; maintain records with licensed staff.
• Monitor behavior, reinforce positive conduct; assist in crisis de-escalation.
• Provide technical physical care and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Assist with online learning activities and technology troubleshooting.
• Support IEP goals and coordinate with IEP team when needed.
