Placements24 seeks an experienced HVAC Design Engineer for a remote-first role focused on energy-efficient building systems across commercial and residential projects. You will design, specify and optimize HVAC solutions, run load calculations, energy modeling, and coordinate with architects and other engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of HVAC design engineering experience.
• Proficiency in HVAC design software: HAP, Trace 700, Revit MEP, AutoCAD.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and building science.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE/SANS building codes and environmental regulations.
• Experience with energy modeling and sustainable design principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.

Responsabilités

• Design and engineer HVAC systems for various building types, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
• Perform load calculations, airflow analysis, and system performance simulations using specialized software.
• Select and specify HVAC equipment including chillers, boilers, AHUs, and control systems.
• Develop detailed design drawings, schematics, and specifications for tender and construction.
• Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and plumbing engineers for integrated building systems.
• Conduct site visits when feasible and provide technical support during construction.
• Perform energy modeling and analysis to optimize efficiency and sustainability.
• Prepare technical reports and present design proposals to clients and stakeholders.
• Stay updated on new HVAC technologies, codes, and best practices.
