Job summary

The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM) seeks a temporary, part-time Instructor of Humanities for the Durham campus Connect program. The role involves teaching synchronous online courses in social sciences with live Zoom instruction, January–May 2027, up to 12.5 hours per week and 5.8 live hours weekly per course.

Responsibilities include delivering engaging, standards-aligned content, assessing student progress, and collaborating with the Extended Learning team.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Media Studies, Cultural Studies, Social Studies, or a related field.
• Minimum of two years of teaching experience.
• Experience teaching high school or online courses preferred.
• Strong knowledge of online instruction and Zoom/interactive platforms.

Responsibilities

• Teach one or more introductory high school Connect courses in the social sciences.
• Deliver live synchronous instruction via Zoom at one or more North Carolina sites.
• Use a pre-developed curriculum, digital assets, and instructor materials to deliver engaging online courses.
