Job summary

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is seeking adjunct faculty to teach Humanities courses. The position requires in-person instruction with day-time hours and optional online, hyflex, or hybrid classes in the future.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to engage students and deliver course content effectively on campus. Master’s degree in Humanities or related field, or 18 graduate hours in humanistic studies, are required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Humanities, Liberal Studies, or American Studies; or 18 graduate semester hours in related coursework focusing on the human condition.
• Ability to teach HUM prefix courses and in-person; online/hyflex/hybrid may be offered in the future.
• Willingness to teach day time hours at various campus locations.

• Prepare, manage, and deliver course content to achieve objectives and student outcomes.
• Actively engage students and provide prompt feedback respectfully and effectively.
• Communicate and follow course syllabus content per directions and guidance.
• Collaborate with College support services to address students’ academic needs.
• Utilize College technology for instruction and processes (LMS, email, calendars, SIS).
• Meet deadlines for class records and requests; maintain accuracy.
• Ensure laboratories are stocked and equipment safe when applicable.
• Foster a positive, student-centered environment among students, faculty and staff.

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is hiring adjunct faculty to teach courses in our Humanities program. Faculty will teach a variety of HUM prefix courses mostly during day time hours, including but not limited to; Technology and Society, Myth and Human Culture, and possibly Critical Thinking. This is not an online-only position, but may include online, hyflex, or hybrid classes in the future. All interested applicants must be able to teach in-person, or you will not be considered for the position.

Required Education/Experience::

• Master’s degree or higher in Humanities, Liberal Studies, or American Studies, or a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in related coursework that focuses on the human condition. This includes, but is not limited to, literature, philosophy, religion, history, and cultural studies.
