Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's Optum Insight seeks a skilled hospital coder to join a telecommute-friendly team. You will identify CPT-4s for inpatient hospital services, abstract data during chart reviews, and uphold coding ethics per AHIMA/AAPC standards while maintaining quality and productivity.

Requirements include a high school diploma, AHIMA/AAPC credentials, and 5+ years in coding with hospitalist/intensivist experience. Remote work within the U.S. is supported.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current AHIMA or AAPC credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC or CPC-H).
• 5+ years of coding experience with hospital inpatient coding.
• 2+ years of Hospitalist and Intensivist coding experience.
• Proficiency with Windows, MS Excel, and EMR/billing systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify CPT-4 assignment and modifiers for inpatient hospital services.
• Abstract additional data elements during chart review when coding.
• Adhere to coding ethics per AHIMA / AAPC standards.
• Maintain performance in coding quality and productivity.
• Provide documentation feedback and query physicians when needed.
• Stay up-to-date with coding knowledge through supervisor materials.
• Participate in coding department meetings and educational events.
• Review charts coded, held, or missing and report findings.
• All other duties as assigned.
