Job summary

Optum Insight in the United States is seeking an experienced medical coder to join our inpatient coding team. You will assign CPT-4 and modifiers for inpatient hospital services and abstract data during chart reviews.

You’ll ensure coding aligns with AHIMA/AAPC ethics and maintain high productivity per Optum360 guidelines. The role requires AHIMA/AAPC credentialing, 5+ years of coding experience, and 2+ years in hospitalist/intensivist coding, with proficiency in EMR, billing systems, and MS

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Current AHIMA or AAPC credential (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC or CPC-H).
• 5+ years of coding experience.
• 2+ years of Hospitalist and Intensivist coding experience.
• Proficiency with Windows, MS Excel, EMR and billing systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify CPT-4 and modifiers for Inpatient hospital services.
• Abstract data elements during chart review when coding.
• Adhere to AHIMA and / or AAPC ethical standards.
• Maintain performance in coding quality and productivity as per Optum360.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians.
• Maintain up-to-date coding knowledge per Coding Supervisors.
• Participate in coding department meetings and education.
• Review and maintain charts coded, held, and/or missing.
• All other duties as assigned.
