Qualifications

• High School Equivalency Diploma is required.

• Minimum 4+ years of experience as a certified coder, including complex and multi-specialty coding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Accurately code a variety of patient records including inpatient, outpatient, ED, and surgical procedures.
• Review documentation for accuracy, completeness and coding guidelines adherence.
• Assign codes using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS Level II.
• Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to clarify documentation.
• Address coding-related claim denials and support appeals.
• Analyze trends in coding errors and mentor Billing Coder I team members.
• Ensure compliance with CMS regulations, payer guidelines, and internal policies.
• Other duties as assigned.
