Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks an Inpatient Coder II, HB Coding to act as the coding and reimbursement expert for complex inpatient discharges. You will apply ICD-10-CM/PCS, determine POA, and collaborate with CDI to ensure accurate MS-DRG assignments.

Frontline coder with 3+ years inpatient experience will review clinical documentation and guidelines to support compliant reimbursement and quality reporting across acute care cases.

Qualifications

• 3 years inpatient coding experience in an acute healthcare setting.
• Certification: RHIA, RHIT or CCS.
• AHIMA membership required.
• Proficient in ICD-10-CM/PCS coding conventions and guidelines.
• Familiarity with MS-DRG/APR-DRG systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM diagnoses and ICD-10-PCS procedures for complex inpatient discharges.
• Determine POA values for secondary diagnoses for quality metrics.
• Review provider notes and CDI input to ensure accurate coding for reimbursement.
