Job summary

Stormont Vail Health is seeking a hospital coder to review medical records and assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis, procedure and CPT codes. You will use the EMR to capture key data, ensure correct MS-DRG/APR DRG, and comply with coding policies.

Required RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CPC options or equivalents, AHIMA/CCA accepted, and at least 2 years of coding experience. This role supports remote work with hybrid on-site options and requires ongoing professional education.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of coding experience.
• RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CPC or AHIMA/CCA certifications required or eligible.

Responsibilities

• Selects and assigns ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes per guidelines.
• Assigns appropriate CPT/DRG codes.
• Uses EMR to enter essential data into the EHR.
• Complies with coding guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Ensures coding accuracy and productivity standards.
• Collaborates with CDI team for documentation improvement.
• Queries physicians for documentation clarification when needed.
• Engages in ongoing education on coding rules and changes.
