Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Software Testing Principal (MUMPS) for a remote, full-time role within the Veterans Affairs department. The candidate will lead testing across legacy healthcare systems, ensuring data integrity and interoperability using HL7, FHIR, and EDI standards.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in software testing, strong SDLC knowledge, and experience with MUMPS/InterSystems Cache, plus certifications such as ISTQB or CSQA are desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or related field.
• 10+ years of software testing, quality assurance, or system validation experience.
• EDIFECS experience with X12 transactions (EDI) including 837/834/835/278/275.
• ISTQB/CSQA certifications or equivalent are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support testing and QA activities for mission-critical healthcare apps in MUMPS/Cache environments.
• Assist modernization and interoperability initiatives for legacy healthcare systems.
• Develop and execute test plans, cases, scripts, and procedures.
• Validate software enhancements, maintenance releases, defects, and upgrades.
• Support functional, integration, regression, UAT, system, and end-to-end testing.
• Verify data integrity across legacy apps, databases, interfaces, and external systems.
• Test HL7, FHIR, EDI transactions and related standards.
