Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Software Testing Principal (MUMPS) to lead testing for healthcare and government systems in a remote setting. The role focuses on validating MUMPS/InterSystems Cache applications, coordinating test plans, and mentoring junior testers.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of QA experience, strong knowledge of HL7/FHIR, and an ability to guide testing across SDLC, ensuring regulatory compliance and data integrity for VA projects.

Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare, government, or other regulated environments.
• Experience testing enterprise applications in healthcare operations.
• Experience supporting legacy, mission-critical systems.
• Experience testing applications using MUMPS and/or InterSystems Cache.
• Experience validating healthcare workflows and system functionality.
• Experience creating detailed test plans, scenarios and scripts.
• Experience performing functional, regression, integration, UAT testing.
• Understand SDLC and testing methodologies.
• Experience validating database updates and data integrity.
• Ability to analyze logs and tests to identify root causes.
• Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, HIPAA EDI transactions.
• Experience testing EDI transactions (278, 275, etc.)
• Experience with defect tracking tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps, ALM, TestRail).
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to lead testing efforts and mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Lead QA for healthcare GOV systems in a remote setting.
• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and scripts.
• Validate software enhancements, maintenance releases and upgrades.
• Coordinate functional, integration, regression, and UAT testing.
• Verify data integrity across legacy healthcare apps and interfaces.
• Test HL7, FHIR, EDI transactions and healthcare messaging.
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, and product owners to validate requirements.
• Develop test data and environments for healthcare workflows.
• Track defects, metrics, risks, and status reports.
• Provide technical leadership on testing strategies for healthcare gov systems.
