Job summary

Merck is seeking an Associate Director, Field Access Management to lead a team of experts focused on access, reimbursement, and patient assistance programs for HCPs and HCOs in the United States. You will collaborate across Field Sales, Market Access, and Public Affairs to shape access strategies and drive outcomes.

The role emphasizes people leadership, mentoring, and building trusted relationships while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and company policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
• Minimum 3 years of patient support, healthcare sales or operations, project management, or reimbursement support.
• Strong knowledge of health insurance structures and related access processes including prior authorization and appeals.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach a team of Field Access Managers (FAMs).
• Execute the field access strategy and oversee team success.
• Educate on regional payor, Medicaid coverage, and field access education.
• Maintain SOPs for hub, specialty pharmacy, and field interactions.
• Provide proactive field-based access education to stakeholders.
• Communicate technical knowledge of patient enrollment, payer coverage, and appeal processes.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings to align on access strategy.
