Qualifications

• Five+ years of professional experience involving shipping or transportation of hazardous materials.
• Working knowledge of Hazardous Materials Regulations under 49 CFR Parts 171-180.
• Knowledge of hazardous material classification, packaging, labeling, placarding, shipping papers and related requirements.
• Ability to locate, analyze, interpret, and apply regulatory requirements to real-world scenarios.
• Regulatory research and analytical skills are essential.
• Excellent professional writing skills for technical/compliance questions by email.
• Ability to translate regulatory language into practical guidance for customers.
• Ability to provide accurate, well-supported answers within service-level expectations.
• Attention to detail and commitment to regulatory accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer questions concerning the transportation and shipment of hazardous materials.
• Research, interpret, and apply the Hazardous Materials Regulations to customer situations.
• Provide clear, concise written responses through email.
• Meet a service-level expectation of responding within 24 hours.
• Explain complex regulatory concepts in plain language.
• Determine proper shipping names, hazard classes, UN/NA numbers, packing groups, and regulatory exceptions.
• Provide supporting agency-issued interpretations when relevant.
• Review training documents and other compliance content for accuracy and clarity.
• Identify compliance gaps in educational and customer-facing materials.
• Serve as a subject matter resource for customers and internal teams.
• Analyze facts and explain how requirements apply to customers' circumstances.
• Collaborate with regulatory transportation and compliance team remotely.
• Maintain timely and professional communication while managing questions and reviews.
