Job summary

Netbox Labs is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a software squad, balancing delivery with design discussions, code reviews, architecture, and occasional implementation. The team builds network-management and observability software for open-source and proprietary products.

You will coach engineers, align with product leaders, and drive secure, modern practices in a remote, async-first environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years as Engineering Manager or Team Lead
• Proven success delivering projects under tight timelines
• Technical depth to review architecture and code
• Experience with Agile, DevOps, CI/CD in fast-moving environment
• Familiarity with GitHub for source control and collaboration
• Understanding of software security principles and coaching engineers
• Direct, effective communication suited to remote/asynchronous work

Responsibilities

• Lead the team’s day-to-day work, review code and designs, contribute when needed
• Turn ambiguous objectives into executable plans and maintain sprint goals
• Own the software lifecycle from planning to follow-up improvements
• Facilitate planning, stand-ups, retrospectives and work breakdown
• Promote secure, modern development practices and maintain quality
• Coordinate with product managers to translate customer needs into plans
• Coach engineers through feedback, mentoring, and hiring preparation
• Communicate risks early and support initiatives with leadership and community
