Job summary

The Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) has an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled student intern in the Colorado River Management Section. The groundwater modeling team seeks a paid intern to assist with groundwater modeling tasks and research for regional-scale MODFLOW models.

This internship offers a hybrid schedule with some remote work within Arizona, and requires enrollment in a related degree program.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical, conceptual, communication, and organizational skills.
• Desire to learn and be part of a fast-paced group dynamic.
• Ability to use Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Knowledge of hydrologic and geologic principles.
• Ability to analyze and interpret aerial imagery and topographic maps.
• Ability to analyze and interpret historical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Research hydrologic and geologic concepts to create conceptual models for study areas.
• Complete GIS tasks and analysis to aid senior modelers.
• Help with data analysis for various model inputs.
• Review input data and calculations for accuracy.
• Technical writing to document workflows.
• Schedule: hybrid work schedule (office and home).
