Job Summary

Candidates must be enrolled in school and pursuing a degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Geography, Hydrology, Water Resource Management, or a related field. Ideal candidates should have experience with computer spreadsheets, relational databases, and GIS mapping techniques.

Job Duties

This position will assist with the conversion of groundwater level data, driller’s, geologist, or particle sized logs, well site inventories, well construction data and other well, aquifer, geologic data to various databases. This work will be in preparation for development of digital data collection forms for the Field Services Section operations and the 3rd Party Water Level On-line Portal – Phase 2 project. Intern would assist with the standardization of data within both Department ACCESS and ORACLE databases such as GWSI and WELLS55, organize paper and electronic well files, scan Section files, review, and compile data from imaged records, assist with data quality assurance/control, research well documentation as needed, and perform well matching as directed by Section Supervisors.
This position works at the office and remotely.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
  • Familiar with geologic, hydrogeologic, hydrologic, and, or geographic principles.
  • Skill in researching and analyzing water resources information from historic documents, photographs, and maps.
  • Ability to review documents and translate information into a spreadsheet or database format.
  • Skill in file/records maintenance, including computerized database information input/retrieval.
  • Ability to rapidly advance knowledge and skill in above listed areas as necessary to accomplish internship goals.
  • Knowledge of hydrologic data collection methods and skill in operating hydrologic field equipment preferred.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
Pre-Employment Requirements

Candidates must be enrolled in school and pursing a degree in GIS, Hydrology, Water Resource Management, Geology, Geography, or related field.
