Job summary

Arizona Department of Water Resources is seeking a Deputy Assistant Director for the Colorado River Section within the Water Planning Division. The role leads the integrated policy and hydrologic modeling team, guiding complex projects and coordinating with federal and state partners to protect Arizona's water supplies.

Qualifications

  • Ten years of professional-level water resource management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with eight years of professional-level water resources management experience.
  • Master’s degree in a related field with six years of professional-level water resources management experience.
  • Doctorate in a related field with four years of professional-level water resource management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Colorado River Management and Hydrologic Modeling Section and act as SME on complex strategic Colorado River issues.
  • Manage Colorado River technical work and support policy efforts with directorate and legal divisions.
  • Maintain stakeholder relations with local, regional, state, and federal agencies and partner organizations to improve coordination and reliability ofColorado River water supplies.
  • Travel domestically and internationally; ensure on-site presence as required; manage performance and staff development within the team.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration and drive program excellence to meet department goals and objectives.
