Placements24 is seeking a forward-thinking Grid Modernization Engineer to join its fully remote team. You will work on smart grid technologies, AMI, and DER integration to enhance resilience, efficiency, and intelligence of the power grid.

The role emphasizes data analytics, cybersecurity for critical infrastructure, and collaboration with IT, operations, and regulatory teams. A Master’s degree and 5–8 years in power systems are preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5-8 years in power systems engineering, with a specialization in grid modernization or smart grid technologies.
• Strong understanding of SCADA systems, AMI, DER integration, and grid analytics.
• Proficiency in power system modeling and simulation tools.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with data analysis and cybersecurity considerations for critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement grid modernization strategies focusing on smart grid technologies.
• Analyze grid performance data to identify areas for improvement and recommend technological solutions.
• Design and integrate advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and distribution automation systems.
• Assess the impact of distributed energy resources (DERs) on grid stability and plan for their integration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and regulatory affairs, on modernization initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for grid modernization projects.
