Job summary

The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) is seeking a Grassroots Manager to plan and execute a nationwide grassroots advocacy program. The role focuses on volunteer attraction, development, and engagement across Montana and Wyoming with remote flexibility.

You will develop local/state strategies, organize volunteers for federal activities, and coordinate campaigns with staff and partners. Travel up to 20% is required and fundraising duties are included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
• Political issues or campaign organizing experience strongly preferred.
• Experience attracting, developing, and engaging volunteers preferred.
• Fundraising experience is a plus.
• Experience using Salesforce, Every Action, or similar tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements comprehensive local and state grassroots strategies and advocacy campaigns, demonstrating volunteer constituent support for cancer-related policy initiatives.
• Supports federal campaigns and congressional champion building for the organization's issues, organizing volunteers to complete federal activities.
• Writes and disseminates emails, legislative alerts, issue talking points, and training curriculum for a diverse audience of volunteers.
• Plans and manages lobby days or similar events, including virtual, to drive engagement and policy wins.
• Maintains ACS CAN web pages, social media accounts, and coordinates where applicable.
• Identifies and develops volunteers with personal stories related to ACS CAN's policy campaigns.
• Serves as staff manager of the volunteer structure in the assigned geography and fills vacancies as needed.
• Coordinates campaign activities with grassroots/patient coalition partners and ACS CAN teams.
• Adheres to IRS and ACS CAN legal and reporting requirements when leading electoral activity.
