Job summary

American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) is seeking a Grassroots Manager to plan and execute a comprehensive grassroots advocacy program across assigned geographies. The role covers Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, with remote work and frequent travel within these states.

The position focuses on developing grassroots strategies, attracting and engaging volunteers, and driving fundraising through volunteer networks, while aligning with state, federal, and organizational priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
• Political issues or campaign organizing experience strongly preferred.
• Experience attracting, developing, and engaging volunteers preferred.
• Fundraising experience is a plus.
• Experience using Salesforce, Every Action, or similar tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements comprehensive local and state grassroots strategies and advocacy campaigns, demonstrating volunteer constituent support for cancer-related policy initiatives in conjunction with the state Government Relations Director.
• Supports federal campaigns and congressional champion building for the organization's issues, working collaboratively to execute a grassroots strategy.
• Organizes volunteers to complete federal activities in collaboration with national teams.
• Communicates strategically using messages tailored to specific political environments and rapid legislative pace.
• Plans and manages Cancer Action lobby days or similar events, including virtual, to drive engagement and policy wins.
