Job summary

American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) is seeking a Grassroots Manager to lead local and state advocacy across Montana and Wyoming, remotely. You will attract and develop volunteers, implement grassroots strategies, and support fundraising efforts to advance cancer policy initiatives in collaboration with state and federal teams.

The role requires 3+ years in advocacy, strong communication skills, and experience with volunteer networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
• Political issues or campaign organizing experience strongly preferred.
• Experience attracting, developing, and engaging volunteers preferred.
• Fundraising experience is a plus.
• Experience using Salesforce, Every Action, or similar tools is a plus.
• Experience or familiarity with fundamentals of Direct Action Organizing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements comprehensive local and state grassroots strategies and advocacy campaigns.
• Supports federal campaigns and congressional champion building for the organization's issues.
• Communicates strategically with volunteers and stakeholders; writes emails and talking points.
• Plans and manages lobby days or events to drive engagement and policy wins.
• Maintains ACS CAN web pages and social media accounts according to guidelines.
• Identifies and develops volunteers with compelling stories for campaigns.
• Coordinates campaign activities with partners and ACS CAN teams.
• Represents ACS CAN and its mission to diverse audiences.
