Job summary

Canonical is seeking an HR Generalist to support a globally distributed team and report to the Regional HR Manager. The role focuses on employee relations, benefits across EMEA/AMER, and leading HR system initiatives.

You will work in a fast-paced, remote-friendly environment with travel for internal events. You will partner with managers, ensure compliance with employment laws, and build scalable HR processes to support growth across regions.

Qualifications

• Excellent academic record from high school and university.
• Professional HR qualifications and certifications.
• Strong knowledge of either EMEA or AMER HR practices and employment laws.
• Self-directed, organized problem solver with ability to prioritise and meet goals.
• Discretion, tact and confidentiality in all communications.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events, including two full working weeks.

Responsibilities

• Provide HR guidance to team members and managers, setting high expectations of behaviour and performance.
• Partner with line managers on global policies and procedures.
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness in processing employee changes, joiners and leavers.
• Manage and drive benefit programs across EMEA or AMER locations.
• Liaise with finance on monthly payroll and inquiries.
• Support onboarding, benefit administration and departure processes.
• Apply critical thinking to automate and reduce administrative tasks.
• Lead the management and integration of the HR system.
• Act as a system expert and advocate for the global HR team.
• Produce data-driven reports to inform HR initiatives.
• Lead and participate in projects with measurable impact.
• Support diversity and inclusion initiatives.
