Job summary

Siemens in Wendell, NC is seeking an Application Engineer for the Proposals team to define scopes, prepare drawings, and craft technical-commercial proposals for Medium Voltage switchgear.

The role collaborates with Engineering, Procurement, and Sales to deliver complete solutions, evaluate quotes, and support contract negotiations. Travel is limited; relocation to Raleigh/Wendell area is considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and ability to analyze customer specifications and single-line diagrams.
• Strong communication skills to interact with customers and internal teams.
• Basic financial understanding to engage in business planning and project lifecycle processes.
• Willingness to learn product configuration and pricing tools.

Responsibilities

• Review customer specifications, documents, and product requirements.
• Identify and define preliminary scope of work for a complete solution.
• Prepare layout and single-line drawings to illustrate scope.
• Collaborate with engineers to generate technical solutions for Siemens products.
• Prepare RFQ packages for third-party products and coordinate with Procurement.
• Evaluate quotations and provide technical recommendations for design and vendor selections.
• Develop cost models for quotations and obtain senior management approvals.
• Prepare customer-facing proposals with relevant technical, commercial, and contractual items for MV switchgear.
• Engage with Customer discussions with Business Development and Sales teams.
• Collaborate to negotiate and secure contracts.
• Coordinate handover with PMO from Bid to Project execution.
