Job summary

Hitachi Energy seeks a Field Service Engineer to support GIS at customer substations nationwide. This role involves hands-on work, installation, commissioning, testing and handover across US sites.

You’ll troubleshoot, supervise on-site activities, and coordinate with customers and subcontractors to keep projects safe and on schedule. Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in field service, a technical degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, strong reading of drawings, and willingness to travel up

Qualifications

• Work authorization to work in the United States.
• 2–5 years of proven experience in technical field service work.
• Technical diploma/degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Ability to travel up to 80%, including to Canada and Mexico.
• Valid US driver’s license.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support through GIS project phases: installation, commissioning, testing, acceptance and handover.
• Provide on-site supervision for GIS substation installation and commissioning.
• Manage troubleshooting with field personnel and subcontractors.
• Oversee contracted maintenance activities to ensure quality of work.
• Maintain detailed site documentation including procedures and test data.
• Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors and customers for smooth site execution.
• Collaborate with customers on-site to support outcomes and satisfaction.
• Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, vehicles, and supplies at sites.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and internal procedures.
