Job summary

Hitachi Energy USA INC. seeks a Field Service Engineer to support Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) at customer substations across the United States.

You will install, commission, test, and hand over GIS projects, leading on-site activities and coordinating with customers and subcontractors. You will troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, maintain site documentation, and ensure safety and quality across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of proven experience in technical field service work.
• Technical diploma/degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Strong mechanical and electrical skills.
• Ability to read and interpret contracts, specifications, and technical drawings.
• Willingness to travel up to 80% (including Canada and Mexico).

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site technical support across GIS project execution, including installation, commissioning, testing, acceptance and handover.
• Supervise installation and commissioning of GIS substations.
• Lead field crews and coordinate with subcontractors.
• Document site activities and maintain performance reports and manuals.
• Ensure safety and regulatory compliance on job sites.
