Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a geotechnical engineer to join our remote U.S. team supporting utility-scale solar, wind, storage, and other power projects.

You’ll perform high‑quality design and consulting within multidisciplined project teams across challenging domestic and international assignments. The role requires a bachelor’s in civil engineering with a geotechnical focus, 3+ years of geotechnical design, strong report-writing skills, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• This position requires a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a geotechnical focus, and a Master’s degree is a plus.
• 3+ years of detailed geotechnical design experience including soil remediation, deep foundations, and pile design.
• Experience in power, transmission, or heavy industry projects with onsite QA of subsurface exploration and pile testing.
• Strong documentation and report-writing skills for Geotechnical specifications and calculations.
• Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Prepare geotechnical reports and calculations aligned with project specs.
• Prepare specifications for subsurface investigations, deep foundations, and ground improvement.
• Advise developers on utility-scale solar, wind, storage, and other projects.
• Evaluate new projects to support financing and risk assessment.
• Develop technical reports for owners, developers, agencies, and financiers.
• Occasional on-site quality surveillance of subsurface exploration and pile activities.
• Occasional domestic and international travel.
