Job summary

Selective Insurance is seeking a GL Claims Specialist for a fully remote position handling auto/general liability claims across the company's footprint. The role requires basic coverage analysis, investigation, negotiation, and disposition with adherence to company policy and authority limits.

Ideal candidates have proven experience in GL claim handling and knowledge of Heartland jurisdictions, with strong analytical and negotiation skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote

Responsibilities

• Investigate coverage and liability of claims through phone, letters or in person, issuing coverage letters.
• Analyze information to evaluate loss extent, consider contributory or comparative negligence.
• Process calls and correspondence from insureds, claimants, and agents and coordinate with underwriters.
• Evaluate, negotiate and resolve claims within delegated authority; assign counsel if needed.
• Update claims system to reflect status and determine chargeability.
• Receive and approve expenses for investigation, processing, and handling.
• Close claims by issuing checks or denials and securing releases.
• Prepare for and participate in claims review and settlement conferences.
• Review depositions and expert reports to evaluate claims and assign medical/expert support.
