Job summary

H2O.ai is seeking a hands-on General Accountant to join our finance and accounting team reporting to our Senior Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate has ERP experience, procurement/payables, and a focus on accuracy in a fast-paced AI software environment.

This temporary role may convert to full-time, requiring strong attention to detail and cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Sales, FP&A, and People Ops to ensure timely processing and financial integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3–5 years of general accounting experience in software/tech.
• Experience with ERP systems and procure-to-pay tools.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and core accounting principles.
• Advanced Excel skills and cloud-based financial tools.

Responsibilities

• Support accounts payable with invoice entry, workflows, and timely payments (Bill.com).
• Manage travel & expense processes and reconcile Navan liabilities.
• Handle cash activity including bank statements and reconciliations.
• Assist month-end close with journal entries and reconciliations.
• Maintain vendor records and assist with 1099 reporting.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Sales, FP&A, and People Ops on expense classification.
• Support cash forecasting and data management for accuracy.
• Help implement internal controls and best practices.
• Assist with audits and compliance initiatives.
• Identify automation opportunities to scale accounting ops.
