Job summary

Bixal is seeking a Full Stack Engineer to develop and maintain government-facing applications on a federal platform. You will fix defects, implement new features, and ensure 24/7 availability while modernizing legacy systems with Java/Spring and Oracle.

The role involves cloud- and container-based workloads, automated testing, and secure code practices. Team members collaborate in an Agile environment to deliver value to agencies and the public.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional full stack software development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Java and the Spring Framework in production.
• Relational databases (Oracle preferred) with SQL optimization.
• Linux server environments (Red Hat preferred).
• Front-end development with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Experience supporting live production systems and Agile/Scrum teams.
• Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain features, services, and APIs across Java and Spring applications.
• Deliver defect fixes, patches, and enhancements in Linux/Tomcat environments.
• Resolve escalations, reproduce issues, identify root causes, and communicate fixes.
• Apply security updates and remediate vulnerabilities in coordination with the security lead.
• Validate system functionality after code, infrastructure, and client environment changes.
• Contribute to integrations with federal systems and data migration activities.
• Build accessible interfaces meeting Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA requirements.
• Write automated tests to achieve high code coverage and quality.
• Maintain inline documentation and participate in agile ceremonies.
