Job summary

Bixal, a Fairfax, VA-based government-focused technology consulting firm, seeks a Full Stack Engineer to maintain and modernize a federal platform. You will work on Java/Spring/Oracle applications, ensure 24/7 production stability, and build new cloud- and container-based features with automated tests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional full stack software development experience.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining production applications with Java and the Spring Framework.
• Experience with Oracle databases and SQL optimization.
• Experience with Linux server environments (Red Hat preferred).
• Frontend development with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience with automated tests and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitHub Actions).
• Experience supporting live production systems and Agile/Scrum teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain features, services, and APIs across Java/Spring applications backed by Oracle, plus modern cloud- and container-based apps.
• Deliver defect fixes, patches, and enhancements; work in RHEL and Tomcat environments.
• Resolve escalations, reproduce issues, and communicate fixes clearly.
• Apply security updates and remediate vulnerabilities within timelines with the security lead.
• Validate system functionality after changes; support data migration and cutover activities.
• Build accessible interfaces meeting 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA; write automated tests to 90% coverage.
• Deploy changes via CI/CD pipelines and support rollback; maintain inline documentation.
