Salas O’Brien, Inc. is seeking a Forensic Structural Engineer II for the Pittsburgh area. This remote/home-office role investigates structural damage across storms, disasters, and defects, delivering clear conclusions and professional reports.

The position requires a PA PE license or reciprocity, 2+ years of forensic engineering, strong writing and communication skills, and willingness to travel as needed. Base salary ranges from $100,000 to $140,000 per year, plus non-discretionary incentives.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of forensic engineering experience preferred.
• PE license in PA or eligible by reciprocity.
• Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationally.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections to determine the cause/origin/extent of structural damage.
• Develop clear, well-supported conclusions and reports.
• Provide timely updates to clients and stakeholders.
• Work independently from a home office and collaborate with internal experts.
• Drive issues to resolution and ensure standards compliance.
• Contribute to process improvements.
