Job summary

Salas O’Brien, Inc. is seeking an experienced Forensic Structural Engineer II for a remote/home office position serving the Raleigh, NC area. The role involves investigating structural damage from storms and other events, writing technical reports, and communicating with clients and teams.

The candidate should have at least 2 years in forensic engineering, strong writing and verbal skills, and be eligible to work in the U.S. with NC PE or reciprocity.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of forensic engineering experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and with a cross-functional team.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills are required.
• Must be able to provide excellent customer service to clients.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in NC or eligible by reciprocity.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections to determine cause, origin, and extent of structural damage.
• Develop clear, well-supported conclusions and produce high-quality technical reports.
• Communicate with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders; manage expectations.
• Work from a home office while leveraging internal experts and resources.
• Drive issues to resolution with internal and external parties to meet standards.
