Job summary

Salas O'Brien is seeking a seasoned Forensic Structural Engineer for a remote/home office role serving the Columbus, OH area. You will investigate and evaluate structural damage from storms, fires, defects, and other events, preparing concise, defensible reports for clients.

The role requires 2+ years of forensic experience (5–10 preferred), a PE license in Ohio or reciprocity, and a BS in Civil/Structural Engineering (MS preferred). Travel locally and nationally is expected.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of forensic engineering experience required; 5-10 years preferred.
• Must work independently and with a cross-functional team.
• Strong technical writing skills and effective reports are essential.
• P.E. license in Ohio required or eligible by reciprocity.
• BS in Civil/Structural Engineering from ABET-accredited university; MS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct forensic investigations to determine cause, origin and extent of damage.
• Develop clear, well-supported conclusions and high-quality reports.
• Provide timely updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Work independently from a home office while collaborating with experts.
