Job summary

Haag, a Salas O’Brien company, is seeking an experienced Forensic Structural Engineer for a remote/home‑office role based in the Columbus, OH area. You will investigate and evaluate damage from storms, disasters, and defects, drafting clear technical reports and coordinating with clients and experts.

Requirements include 2+ years in forensic engineering, a PE license in Ohio or reciprocity eligibility, and strong writing and communication skills. Local travel and fieldwork are required as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of forensic engineering experience required; 5–10 years preferred.
• Ability to work independently and with a cross-functional team.
• Strong technical writing skills required; ability to write effective reports.
• Strong verbal communication skills; effective in face-to-face interactions.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections to determine the cause, origin, and extent of structural damage.
• Develop clear, well-supported conclusions and high-quality technical reports.
• Provide timely, professional updates to clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Work independently from a home office while leveraging internal experts and resources.
• Drive issues to resolution with internal and external stakeholders; ensure deliverables meet standards.
• Suggest process and tool improvements to strengthen client outcomes.
