Job summary

Keystone Experts & Engineers seeks licensed PE mechanical/electrical engineers to conduct forensic investigations and determine causes of failures across residential, commercial, and industrial sites. This is a fully remote, part-time, 1099 contracted role requiring field experience and strong analytical skills.

Ideal candidates will perform site evaluations, document findings, and provide clear recommendations for remediation or litigation support, collaborating with a nationwide client base

Qualifications

• PE license required.
• Degree in Mechanical/Electrical engineering or similar field.
• Well-versed in building materials, codes, construction methods & common failure modes.
• Ability to adhere to tight deadlines.
• Availability to perform site inspections within 5–7 days.
• Tech-savvy across multiple software platforms and investigative techniques.

Responsibilities

• Performs engineering failure analysis; determine cause of damage, fires, electrocutions, and equipment failures.
• Capable of site evaluations, field analysis, and assessments of mechanical, electrical and/or plumbing systems.
• Provide evaluations for failures due to hail/wind damage, lightning, improper maintenance or installation, or product defects.
• Safely access roofs, attics, and crawl spaces to document areas of interest.
• Identify witnesses and other parties involved and interview as needed.
• Prepare findings and recommendations to support insurance claims or litigation.
