Job summary

Keystone Experts & Engineers is seeking licensed professional engineers for forensic investigations to determine causes and origins of site issues across residential and commercial properties. This fully remote, part-time, 1099 contract role requires PE licensure and strong analytical skills.

Ideal candidates will evaluate electrical and mechanical failures, perform field assessments, and contribute clear, defensible conclusions with timely reporting for insurance matters and litigation support.

Qualifications

• Active Professional Engineering license(s) required.
• Degree in Mechanical/Electrical engineering or similar field.
• Strong written & verbal communication and problem-solving.
• Ability to adhere to tight deadlines and respond quickly.
• Willingness to perform site inspections within 5-7 days.

Responsibilities

• Performs engineering failure analysis to determine cause and origin of damage.
• Site evaluations and field analyses of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Provide evaluations for failures due to hail/wind damage, lightning, improper maintenance or installation, or product defects.
• Safely access roofs, attics, and crawl spaces to photo document areas of interest.
• Identify and interview witnesses and other key parties involved.
• Prepare and submit findings and recommendations for insurance claims or litigation.
