Job summary

Keystone Experts & Engineers is seeking licensed (PE) Mechanical Engineers and/or Electrical Engineers with experience in forensic investigations to determine the cause and origin of site issues and to recommend repairs for HVAC, plumbing, sprinkler and electrical systems from weather-related damage, power surges, lightning strikes, fires, or explosions.

This is a fully remote, part-time, 1099 contract position open for all states across the nation, with immediate work in Colorado, Georgia and

Qualifications

• Active Professional Engineering license(s) required.
• Degree in mechanical and/or electrical engineering.
• Professional knowledge of building materials, codes, construction methods & common modes of failure.
• Ability to access roof, attic and crawl space areas.
• Ability to adhere to tight deadlines.
• Availability to perform site inspections within 5-7 days.
• Ability to use multiple software platforms, tools/equipment & investigative techniques.
• Outstanding written & verbal communications skills.
• An analytical mind and strong problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations of reported damage to buildings to determine causes and contributing factors.
• Collect evidentiary items for future testing and preservation.
• Performance of leak and pressure testing.
• Development of testing protocols and/or attendance of lab exams.
• Performance of electrical testing (insulation testing, continuity testing, etc.).
• Access roofs, attics & crawl spaces to photo document areas of interest.
• Prepare & submit findings and, when required, recommendations for repairs or replacement.
