Job summary

Coinbase's Customer Administration Engineering (CAE) team seeks a Staff Software Engineer to anchor the group and drive Control Center from a human-specialist UI to a modular, AI-agent-ready operations platform. You’ll lead architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and deliver high-impact capabilities across thousands of internal users and AI agents.

You’ll own MCP-based orchestration, guardrails, and HITL workflows while partnering with Engineering, Product, and Security to raise the bar on

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with large-scale distributed systems
• Proven ability to lead high-impact technical initiatives
• Experience with cloud-native infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes) and CI/CD
• Security controls and data governance experience in financial services
• Experience with agentic AI systems and MCP/LLM orchestration
• Strong Go and Python skills or willingness to work across both

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and delivery of foundational platform capabilities
• Evolve Control Center into AI-agent-ready platform with MCP constructs
• Lead technical direction, design reviews, and mentoring
• Build reliable, secure distributed backend services with SLOs and observability
• Collaborate with product, security, and other teams to drive platform primitives
