Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer, CX Intelligence, to lead the design and delivery of production ML systems across the org, shaping strategy and partnering with product and engineering teams to improve resolution quality, automation and customer experience.

You will mentor engineers, drive security and responsible AI practices, and guide architectural decisions from concept to production, working in a remote-first culture with quarterly in-person surges to collaborate

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in ML and software engineering.
• Hands-on expertise with LLMs, deep learning, graph neural networks, gradient-boosted trees, or regression; knowledge of NLP, information retrieval, data mining, or statistics.
• Strong Python skills with production code for ML services.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading design reviews.
• Responsible AI with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and delivery of production ML systems, applying LLMs, deep learning, graph neural networks, and classical ML techniques.
• Partner with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps and quarterly plans.
• Lead high-impact ML projects end-to-end from architecture to production.
• Build scalable, secure ML systems, pipelines, and data workflows with high-quality Python code.
• Mentor engineers and establish team-wide standards for design, testing, observability, and operations.
• Drive design reviews focusing on security, responsible AI, model quality, and system latency.
