Job summary

SpryPoint is seeking a Software Engineering Team Lead to guide a high-performing team delivering our cloud-native customer service and operations platform for utilities. You will shape architecture, mentor engineers, and drive best practices across SCRUM teams.

You will influence design decisions, review AI-generated outputs, and ensure robust, scalable solutions while collaborating with Client Success and cross-functional partners across North America.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience with Java backend web apps.
• Previous leadership or mentoring experience.
• Proficiency in Java and backend concepts like REST, microservices, and async processing.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Web tech experience: HTML, JavaScript, CSS.
• Cloud familiarity (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong OO design, patterns, and clean code practices; Git and CI/CD fluency.
• Excellent problem solving, scalability, performance, and security mindset.
• Effective cross-functional communication in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Guide and mentor a software engineering team to deliver high quality products.
• Lead technical design decisions and own delivery outcomes.
• Create and maintain designs, architecture docs, and best practices.
• Conduct code reviews, including AI-assisted code, and incorporate feedback.
• Develop and review automated tests; contribute to AI-assisted testing efforts.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across dev and production environments.
• Foster collaboration, growth, and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Run regular 1:1s and performance feedback sessions.
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes for efficiency.
• Collaborate with Client Success to resolve support-related issues.
