Job summary

KoBold Metals is hiring a Data Scientist (Senior Staff, Staff, & Senior roles) to build predictive models and 2D/3D geologic predictions, working with world-class geoscientists and engineers worldwide.

You will integrate diverse geoscience data, quantify uncertainty, and develop tools to accelerate discovery of battery metals. This remote-first role requires global travel and leadership of technical teams.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in physical sciences, engineering, CS, or math.
• Minimum 4 years post PhD or 8 years post MS in relevant roles.
• Experience leading technical teams on scientific problems.

Responsibilities

• Develop KoBold’s proprietary exploration tools.
• Curate geophysical, geochemical, geologic, and geographic data into KoBold’s system.
• Build models predicting ore-forming signals in 2D/3D.
• Create visualizations to evaluate model performance and data features.
• Apply data processing, statistics, and physics-based methods to geoscience data.
• Present results to external partners and stakeholders.
