Job summary

A-Alpha Bio in Seattle is seeking an Associate Director of Business Development to build and own commercial efforts across Western North America and APAC. You will define territory plans, open strategic accounts, and manage a bookings quota across our data and antibody discovery portfolios.

You'll engage with pharma, biotech, and AI model developers, lead cross-functional teams, negotiate agreements, and drive pricing and packaging decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in life science, machine learning, or related field with 8+ years of quota-carrying BD or sales experience selling technical products/services to pharma/biotech.
• Proven track record of opening net-new accounts and closing complex, multi-stakeholder, 7+ figure deals with long sales cycles.
• Experience negotiating commercial agreements (CDAs, licenses, SOWs, etc.) directly with customers.
• Ability to travel up to 50%, primarily domestic, with occasional international travel.
• Proficient in running pipeline and forecast in Salesforce or equivalent CRM.

Responsibilities

• Own business development and revenue for Western North America and APAC from first contact through signed agreement and ongoing account management.
• Build and execute a territory plan: define target accounts, prioritize them, and hunt through outbound prospecting, conferences, referrals, and inbound follow-up.
• Run complex, long-cycle sales processes with scientific champions, ML teams, procurement, legal, and executives.
• Communicate technical value propositions, including PPI data and antibody optimization, drawing on internal collateral.
• Lead commercial negotiations of contracts and agreements.
• Structure deals and prepare proposals, quotes, and margin analyses for internal review.
• Develop the APAC market through inbound/outbound engagement; travel not required.
• Maintain pipeline hygiene and forecast accuracy in Salesforce; participate in weekly cadence.
• Build AI-assisted workflows for prospecting, account research, forecasting, and business process improvement.
• Identify and develop channel and ecosystem partnerships to extend reach.
