Job summary

National Fire Experts seeks a Full-Time Fire Investigator to join our team in Fort Wayne, IN. The investigator studies fire and explosion scenes, determines cause and origin, and presents findings in reports.

Travel within a 100-mile radius is common, with occasional overnights, and opportunities to provide expert testimony. The role requires NFPA standards familiarity, CFEI/CFI certification (preferred), and strong writing/communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must have CFEI certification through NAFI, or CFI certification through IAAI (preferred).
• Must hold or be able to obtain a Private Investigator License within 60 days of employment (if applicable).
• Familiar with NFPA 921 and NFPA 1033 standards.
• Experience with writing detailed investigation reports is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct cause and origin investigations at loss sites with timely field visits.
• Provide unbiased analysis and consultation on fires and explosions.
• Write detailed and accurate reports and defend opinions when needed.
• Travel within a 100-mile radius from the office; occasional overnight travel may be required.
• Interact with clients and provide project updates and timelines.
