Job summary

National Fire Experts in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a full-time Fire Investigator to determine the origins of fires and explosions and to produce clear, concise written reports. The role requires travel within a 100-mile radius and may involve occasional overnight travel.

You will provide unbiased analysis, support clients with timelines, and may be called for expert testimony. A remote schedule is available, with emphasis on safety and ethical practices.

Qualifications

• . Must have CFEI or CFI certification; preferred.
• . Must obtain Private Investigator License within 60 days of employment (if applicable).
• . Familiarity with NFPA 921.
• . Meet NFPA 1033 qualification requirements.
• . Prior expert testimony or deposition experience preferred.
• . Degree or some college coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

• Timely field visits to loss sites to conduct cause and origin investigations.
• Provides honest and unbiased analysis and consultation on various fires and explosions.
• Field studies and research on a daily basis.
• Travel within 100-mile radius of the assigned office; occasional overnight travel may be required.
• Communicate with customers to provide timelines and project updates.
• Prepare detailed and accurate reports per company guidelines.
• Provide expert testimony/depositions as needed.
• Maintain high standards of safety and ethics.
• Work with management on other assigned duties.
