Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) in Austin seeks a Financial Examiner III to conduct moderately complex financial examinations of cost reports for Medicaid and non-Medicaid services. You will review trial balances, general ledgers, and supporting documentation, coordinating with providers and agency staff.

Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, and reporting examination results with attention to professional standards; telework may be eligible, and the role supports

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial examinations, financial operations, financial analysis, data analysis, budgeting, accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, Medicaid reimbursement, or cost reporting experience.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
• Performs financial examinations of financial compliance and cost reports submitted by contracted providers, to include financial data, statistical data, and supporting documentation.
• Manages workload by planning and organizing to ensure that the required number of financial examinations are completed within PFD established deadlines.
• Communicates with contracted providers, financial contacts, and/or cost report preparers to request clarifying information or supporting documentation.
• Completes additional or special projects as assigned by the Manager or Director.
