Job summary

System Six, a fully remote cloud-accounting firm, seeks a seasoned Financial Controller to oversee complex client financials, especially sponsor-backed and M&A deals. You will guide close, reporting, and internal controls across a diverse portfolio, ensuring accuracy and scalability.

You will lead onboarding for acquisitions, build trusted client relationships, and drive process improvements, leveraging NetSuite, Sage Intacct, and other cloud tools while maintaining GAAP discipline.

Qualifications

• PE-backed and M&A client experience required.
• Onboarding and direction for newly acquired clients and close/process improvements.
• 8+ years in accounting/finance with multi-client leadership across industries.
• GAAP, lease accounting, revenue recognition expertise with insights for client decisions.
• Strong operational accounting oversight including bookkeeping, AP/AR, GL, reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as outsourced controller for multiple PE-backed/recently acquired clients; onboard and set close calendars and reporting standards.
• Act as primary client contact; communicate with owners, sponsors, and external partners with clarity.
• Oversee accounting operations; manage GL, AP/AR, month-end close and variance analysis.
• Lead Account Managers; delegate tasks and coach teams on advanced accounting.
• Own process improvement and software integration; design workflows for scalable systems.
