Job summary

MatchaCFO is seeking a Canada-based remote contracting CFO/Accounting Leader with 10+ years in digital technology startups. You will manage service delivery, oversee GL, month-end close, payroll, invoicing, and cash flow projections for US-based startups.

You must build repeatable processes, document procedures, and lead a distributed team with clear client communication. Experience with QBO and US apps is preferred; the role offers flexible 20–40+ hours weekly.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of directly relevant accounting experience, including 5+ years with digital technology startups.
• Strong knowledge of QuickBooks Online; experience with US apps like Gusto and Ramp preferred.
• Proficient in Google Workspace and Slack; able to learn new software quickly.
• Ability to prioritize, manage time, and maintain high attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong team management and process documentation.

Responsibilities

• Service delivery team management and hands-on execution.
• General Ledger maintenance and bookkeeping.
• Manage full-cycle month-end close and reporting with reconciliations.
• Produce accurate financial statements for clients.
• Process payroll and payroll entries; invoice customers and manage receivables.
• Ensure bills are coded in payables software and synced to QBO.
• Assist in cash flow models and financial forecasts.
• Onboard new clients and develop core accounting processes.
• Support compliance with federal, state, local requirements and registrations.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflow productivity.
